But there is a good chance that your iPhone is already taking advantage of the data encryption by default, and you don’t have to do anything.
From iOS 8 and beyond, you can find the option for encryption by going to Settings > Touch ID and Passcode. For iPhones running older versions than iOS 8, the settings can be accessed by going to Settings > General > Passcode.
If you haven’t activated the Touch ID or the passcode, then simply go to the settings menu and the phone will guide you through the entire process. When choosing a passcode, remember to use something that you can remember easily and is also secure.
During the passcode setup, iPhone provides you with an estimate on how easy it is to break into your device. On the other hand, there is the option to use Touch ID, which utilizes the user’s fingerprint for data protection. But recent research shows that even the Touch ID can be fooled using 3D printers and modeling clay.
But the chances of someone stealing your fingerprints and then using 3D printers to get access to your iPhone are very low. But if you are a high-risk professional or someone who wants data protection at all costs, then using the Touch ID may not be such a good idea.
