Frequently Asked Questions
General Questions
Encrypt Phone is a new way of calling and receiving Encrypted Phone calls through your PBX Softphone, Desktop, Laptop, iOS or Android device. Every call that is made through Encrypt Phone is protected and secured using military-grade TLS/SRTP 256-bit SSL encryption technology. This prevents your phone calls from being ‘snooped on or eavesdropped. Encrypt Phone provides users with a high quality secure calling via 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi networks. The encryption protocols detect when a call starts and then starts creating a cryptographic key that is passed between the two callers.
In order to encrypt your phone calls, you will need to subscribe to the Encrypt Phone service. This subscription will make sure that your phone calls are securely encrypted. Register to Service
Encrypt Phone calls are of higher quality than normal phone calls. The only time the quality of phone calls might be reduced is when making Encrypt Phone calls over slow networks.
Encrypt phone works on all mobile data 3G/3.5G/4G/LTE networks and Wi-Fi regardless of the country. The only requirement is an internet connection to the end-device.
No, you do not need a Wi-Fi connection to use Encrypt Phone. Encrypt works as well in 3G and 4G data networks as it works on Wi-Fi.
Encrypt Phone is optimized to work on every Smartphone and desktop operating system. It works on iPhone, Android, Windows, Mac, PC and Linux. This capability is made possible by apps that accompany the app and have support for SIP and TLS/SRTP
If you have been trying to make a connection through 3G or 4G networks, you might first need to check whether your connection will work through Wi-Fi. If it doesn’t, contact our support team for the way to proceed.
Some Internet Service Providers unfortunately block any secure SIP traffic. If you are experiencing a connection problem, check whether your service provider makes provisions for SIP connections. Ports that need to be open TCP 5061 and UDP 10000-20000

In order to set up Encrypt Phone on your device:
1. Register for an account on the website.
After receiving your account details and URL for the portal:

The only way to securely call your friends using the Encrypt phone app is when they also have an Encrypt Phone account. Encrypt Phone does not make secure calls to landlines or SIM card mobile numbers.
Every Phone Encrypt subscription gives the user a single license for the software. Accordingly, each user gets a single Username as well as one Encrypt in-network Phone number. Any additional users will need to have separate accounts in order to communicate via Encrypt Phone. However, Encrypt Phone can be installed on multiple devices. Each device will however be forced to use the same Encrypt Phone number. When installing the account on multiple devices the incoming calls will be received via the last device that was registered on our server.
In order to call a number that is not subscribed to Encrypt Phone, or to receive a call from that number, you will need to dial 00 followed by the number (CountryCode+CityCode+Number) you wish to call.
Yes, any application that support TLS & SRTP can be use.
However we can recommend using Zoifer that test with our service and works well.
Encryption & Security
Call setup is processed over a fully encrypted TLS (Transport Layer Security) connection. This creates a very secure channel between your device/cell phone and the Encrypt Phone Server, preventing any interception of data way before you start making your call.
There is no known way in which anyone can manage to intercept phone calls between people who are using Encrypt Phone.
If the eavesdropper is using a sniffer such as tcpdump, he may be able to see packets of the media stream emanating from your device flowing into their network (but only if both of you are not behind symmetric NAT). However, if the sniffer is not behind NAT or is using less sophisticated tech, there is no way they will be able to reveal your IP address. For complete anonymity we recommend using TOR proxy while operating the Encrypt phone.
Calls made via Encrypt Phone cannot be recorded by anyone else but you and the receiver.
Encrypt Phone only logs information that allow us to keep the service running. This data is kept in high-security servers.
Encrypt Phone employs device-device encryption to make sure all calls you make are heavily secured. The encrypted keys are shared peer to peer and do not pass through any servers. The TLS and SRTP protocols used to encrypt audio data and pass it through the internet are the most secure in the world.
At Encrypt Phone, we are fully committed to protecting our customers. There are no known backdoors in Encrypt Phone that intruders can use to eavesdrop on your encrypted conversations. Not even the employees or managers of Encrypt Phone have access to your encrypted communication. To enhance your privacy and security of your private communication, Encrypt Phone only keeps minimal and very basic logs.
